Editorial Policy
This page sets out how we research and maintain the comparisons on Private Health Compass. It also covers how we make money doing it.
How we research
We build and check every page against public, checkable sources, mainly:
- CQC ratings and inspection reports for clinics, hospitals, and other regulated providers.
- Providers' own published price lists taken from their official websites or fee schedules.
- NHS data on typical waiting times used to give context for what "same-day" or "fast access" actually saves you.
We either cite the published source or mark it as a dated first-hand check we carried out ourselves whenever we state a specific price, an underwriter, or an availability window. We do not estimate or round up figures we have not seen.
What we will not do
- We do not give medical advice. Our comparisons cover cost, access, and cover. They do not cover clinical suitability.
- We do not publish pages about named individual doctors' clinical performance or reputation.
- We do not use star ratings or review scores for providers. We have not personally been treated by them.
- We do not state anything about a named provider that we cannot trace to a source or a dated check.
Update cadence
Price and availability information dates quickly in private healthcare. We aim to re-check money pages, such as insurance comparisons and clinic price tables, at least quarterly. We re-check sooner if we are told something has changed. Every page that carries checked pricing shows the month we last confirmed it.
Corrections
We want to know if something on this site is wrong, out of date, or unfair to a provider. Get in touch and we will review the page, correct any factual error promptly, and note significant corrections where relevant. We would rather fix a mistake than defend one.
How we make money
We never accept payment for coverage. No provider or insurer can pay to be listed, to be reviewed more favourably, or to be removed from a comparison. Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. This applies particularly on insurance and cover pages. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you if you click through and take out a policy. This never changes what we say about a provider. It never determines whether a provider appears on the site at all.
